Today will be my first Mother’s Day as a mother. As a new mother, I appreciate the holiday. Being a parent is really hard work and although I am fortunate to be surrounded by people that tell me what a good job I’m doing, an actual day dedicated to others showing their appreciation feels great.
With all the snow we’ve been getting in Philadelphia (and throughout the country), I have heard a lot about how different parts of the county are managing. There have been serious discussions about each city’s ability to clear out the snow and make the streets safe to drive on.
Did it take you twice as long to get home yesterday? Do you feel like you can’t get anything done at work with all of these snow days? Is your patience for others dwindling quickly?
Last month, I had the opportunity to tour two drug and alcohol rehab centers. During these visits, I learned a lot about the different approaches currently being used for inpatient addiction treatment and I enjoyed seeing the steps that each program takes to best help the people they serve in a compassionate, personalized way.
As my husband and I prepare for the arrival of our child in November, we have started nesting. Our evenings and weekends have been filled with cleaning and organizing to make room for all the supplies that the baby will need.
